Final Fantasy XIV Requires Two Subscriptions to Play on Xbox

Shocking Revelation: Double Subscriptions Needed for Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox!

Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox Requires Xbox Game Pass Subscription

Players hoping to play Final Fantasy XIV on their Xbox consoles will now need to have an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription, as stated in the official FAQ that was released recently. This means that in addition to the cost of a monthly subscription, players will need to pay for an Xbox Game Pass membership, resulting in a higher overall cost compared to PlayStation and PC players.

Why the Requirement?

While games like Fortnite do not require an Xbox Game Pass Core membership for online play, it is unclear why Final Fantasy XIV has implemented this requirement. It is worth mentioning that Phantasy Star Online 2 originally required an Xbox Live Gold account, but it is hoped that this aspect of the game will be revised before the official release.

Beta Testing and Official Release

The beta testing for Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox consoles will commence on February 21, 2024, at 12:00 am PST. However, the beta test and the free trial do not necessitate an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Only the full Xbox Series X|S version will require an Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) plan.

After the beta testing is concluded, players can continue their adventures on Xbox consoles, but they must have a Game Pass subscription to do so.
